Dr. Michael Schlögl was appointed Senior Manager, Patent Management, in Magna’s Powertrain group in September 2025. In this role, he oversees all patent-related processes, including portfolio development, defending intellectual property rights, license negotiations, and dispute management.

With over 20 years of experience in automotive intellectual property, Dr. Schlögl has a proven track record in license negotiations and dispute resolution. Previously, as Head of IP SEP at Continental, he played a key role in resolving major disputes over 4G and 5G standard-essential patents and managed high-profile FRAND and antitrust cases. Earlier in his career, he established an IP department in Eastern Europe for Continental and contributed to several legislative initiatives.

Dr. Schlögl has served as an ETSI board member (2020–2025) and FSA board member (2022–2025), and has advised government agencies on SEP issues. He is a frequent speaker at international IP conferences and is regularly quoted in the press.

He holds a PhD in high energy physics and is a European Patent Attorney.
